Another Type of Shifter

With: Kate Hill

Congratulations to “Elizabeth H.”, the winner in Kate’s giveaway. Please contact JUST PARANORMAL ROMANCE to claim your prize!

One thing I love about paranormal romance is that it’s unlimited. If you can dream it, then you can make it part of a paranormal romance.

As a huge fan of shifters, in particular werewolves, I had to make them part of my Pandemonium universe. It started with the Fangs and Fists series that is based mainly on werewolves who have been abducted by demons and forced to become gladiators for their entertainment. In the related series, Wild Witches of Beaver Bay, a minor werewolf character from Fangs and Fists makes a brief appearance, but the main shifters in this series are another type.

In Wild Witches of Beaver Bay, spirit twin shifters are in some ways similar to werewolves. Both have animal and human characteristics, but unlike werewolves, the spirit twins don’t remain a single entity. The spirit of a dead creature, usually an animal, joins with a human host, and the host’s physical body takes on some of the characteristics of the animal. At that time, the animal and the human share thoughts and emotions.

The first spirit twin introduced in Wild Witches of Beaver Bay is Mike, a demon hunter whose spirit twin is a wolf. In my latest release, Trinity and Jeff, the hero discovers that the spirit of a powerful animal has been watching him and they have the potential to join the spirit twin family.

Spirit twins have been fun to write about, especially finding ways to make them different than werewolves in a world where many paranormal creatures exist.

Are you a shifter fan? Do you have a favorite type of shifter?
