I’m going to tell you a secret: I like writing hot, alpha dudes, who are enlightened. They’re powerful, strong and take charge. But when they fall in love, they fall hard. It’s fantasy world, so I make my guys tough, sometimes a bit too bossy, but all they want to do is take care of those they love. I love the idea of a great protector.
Linc in “Baby’s Got Bite” is a perfect example of that. Readers have been asking for his story since he was the best friend in “Take it Like a Vamp.” Every few weeks someone would email me and ask when Linc would get his own story. Sometimes it was people who work at my publisher, which always made me laugh. Fans have had fights over him on Twitter. I love that. At the same time I felt so much pressure.
My problem was finding the right woman who could stand up to Linc’s protective nature. And then, one day the light bulb went off. Bennett, the other best friend in “Take It Like A Vamp.” She’s a loud mouth, fiercely loyal and doesn’t take direction well. (Come to think of it, there might be a bit of me in there.) She was his polar opposite and perfect for him.
When these two are together, it’s sparks, sparks, sparks. They love to argue. Linc needed that. Throw in a surprise pregnancy, and his protective nature kicks into high gear. Bennett is having none of that.
Once I put those two together, the story just sort of fell out of my head. I love that opposites attract idea. My husband and I are opposites and we’ve been together a really long time. But let’s be clear, my husband is not a werewolf, and if he did half the stuff Linc does, he’d be a dead man.
But this is fantasy, so let’s all just enjoy our bossy werewolf who loves his woman – hard. (Smile)
Some consequences bite…big time.
Bennett Langdon has a firm no-relationships policy. Still, it doesn’t stop her from hooking up with a super-sexy bad boy at her best friend’s wedding. After all, it’s only one night—what harm could it do? Ten weeks later, a pregnant Bennett has her answer…
Linc Monahan can’t believe it. This wasn’t supposed to happen. He’s a werewolf, and shouldn’t be able to father a child with a human. Now Linc has to find some way to tell Bennett that not only do werewolves exist, but she’s about to have a baby with one.
But when word of their surprise conception gets out, the fur hits the fan. There are people who don’t want this baby to be born—even if it means killing. Now Bennett and Linc aren’t just fighting each other…they’re fighting for their lives.
