I love a good vampire novel. I don’t know what it is. I mean, come on. Drinking blood? That does NOT sound like it should be sexy. But it obviously is. For me, the allure of a good vampire romance is the whole alpha-male-sexy-as-hell-immortal-I-can-do-anything vibe. Unfortunately, too many vampire novels fall prey to the trap of making the man (the vampire) so strong that the woman (who’s usually human) has little to nothing to do except get herself into some trouble that requires the big, bad vampire to come save her.
Don’t get me wrong – having the vampire save the day is definitely sexy. But I want the woman to be strong in her own right. So when I got the idea to write a vampire novel, I wanted to make sure that the human female was every bit as strong, powerful, and capable as the vampire. I also wanted her to have her own special abilities.
This week, Wednesday to be exact, I released Secrets in Blood to the world. I hope you’ll check it out on Amazon. Secrets in Blood is the story of Evangeline and Nicola. Nic is the sexy, Italian vampire. Evangeline is the smart, capable, and fearless human who saves Nic from her father’s evil plan. I love these characters. I have other books out and more books in development, but Nic and Evangeline are my two favorite characters. I know I’m not supposed to have favorites, but I do. I love them because Nic can be unsure and conflicted (something you don’t often see with vampires) and Evangeline does just as much saving, plotting, and rescuing as Nic does. She gets herself into a couple of bad situations, but it’s not because she did anything stupid.
Secrets in Blood is the first book in the In Blood series. The initial story arc will span two books, but the ending of Secrets in Blood is not a cliffhanger (or at least not much of one). I envision many more books in this series. I hope you’ll enjoy it.
Vampires have been living in the open for centuries, but the laws prohibit them feeding directly from humans. A group of young American vampires wants those laws changed and will do anything to accomplish their goal.
An extremist religious group, believing vampires to be an abomination against God, works to develop a serum that will stay the vampires’ quick healing, effectively turning them mortal.
While visiting America, Italian vampire Nicola Angliatti tries to rescue a lost little girl, only to discover she is being used as bait. Captured by the extremists, restrained in silver, his body is used to develop the serum. Years later, near death, he’s discovered by that same little girl, now grown. The attraction between the two of them is instant and inexplicable. Can Evangeline free Nicola from his silver bonds? And if she does, what will happen between them?
